Where do you start and how do you prepare to get your
Amateur Radio Operator's License?

First, start with the ARRL's Ham Radio License Manual. This manual is worth it!

  • Easy-to-understand “bite-sized” sections. Use this book, and pass the 35-question license test.
  • Includes the latest question pool with answer key, for use beginning July 1, 2006.
  • Designed for self-study and for classroom use. Intended for all newcomers, instructors and schoolteachers.

Make sure you study the information provided in this great book before taking the test. You should also try some of the on-line practice tests before going to take the 'real' one.

Second, view the Instructional Material needed for understanding and preparing for the test to get your Amateur License.

Third, study the Rules and Regulations from the FCC.

Fourth, study your book and take the Practice Tests.
