| ELECTRICAL ENGINEER ("EE") | B.S.E.E. |
This is a highly theoretical and mathematically oriented job. Electrical Engineers must possess at least a bachelor's degree, and many companies prefer EE's who have earned Master's degrees. At least two years of calculus is required. EE's do research, development, and design work. Their research is usually in support of new products. EE's design circuits for these new products and often write embedded computer programs ("firmware") for these new products. MCC does not offer the B.S.E.E. degree; those are only available at 4-year colleges and universities. However, MCC does offer the AAS EET degree, which contains much credit that is transferable to four-year schools, including physics and calculus. Because electronics is taught in a fundamentally different way in engineering programs, MCC's Electronics courses will not generally transfer into an Electrical Engineering program. This is because MCC electronics is based on algebra, while university electronic engineering programs are based on calculus.
