What does an ET do?

It is important to define first what an ET does NOT do. An ET does NOT...

...process computer chips (but he may support the manufacturing equipment that makes the chips)

..repair radios or TV's (but he may help to design and develop them in an engineering department)

...assemble circuit boards (but he may supervise electronics assemblers)

...install wiring in houses (that is done by electricians)

...climb telephone poles (but he may work for telephone and power companies supporting and maintaining telephone switches and power control and switching equipment)

What, then, does an ET do? There are three types of jobs that ET's can do. Take a look at them...

Job Description: ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN

Some ET's focus more on robotic systems than electronic circuits. These ET's are often called "Robotics Technicians". They require the same training and education as ET's. The following short video will provide more information.

Job Description (video): ROBOTICS TECHNICIAN

The semiconductor industry is a special case; they hire Electronics Technicians, but often refer to them as "Install/Qual Techs", or "Maintenance Techs". The job description has a somewhat different emphasis, though, so a separate job description is provided here...

Job Description: MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN, INSTALL/QUAL TECHNICIAN
