MCC Electronics Schedule

Take a look at our Electronics course offerings by following the link below. Do not use any printed schedules; because courses may be added or cancelled, or may fill (and close) at any time, it is important to view the following up-to-date information:

Electronics Class Schedule: 2012 Spring

Tell us the best days and times to offer our classes...

Ouch! I need a class that you aren't offering this semester! What should I do?

First, note that some classes are offered in the "Fall only" or "Spring only":

Fall Only Spring Only
ELE105 ELE101
ELE222 ELE112
ELE243 ELE251
ELE261 ELE263

Other than these fall-only or spring-only classes, if you need a class that is not shown here, we would like to know about it! If there is enough student interest, if we have an extra classroom, and if we have a professor to teach it, we can sometimes add an extra course or two. Send us a note using the form below.

Oh no; I'm graduating soon and a course that I really, really need to graduate is closed (full). Will you give me an override so I can take the class anyway?

No.

All our classes (except for ELE101 and ELE105) are hands on, lab-based courses. We have a limited number of lab stations and computers in our classrooms. The maximum enrollment limit for our courses is not arbitrary; it is set based on the number of lab stations we have. Placing a larger numbers in these classes would not be fair to the students.

All is not lost, however.

You still might be able to get into the class if you are sneaky enough. Here are some secrets that may help:

  • As the semester draws near, our Registration department "purges" students who have not paid their tuition by the due date. These purges generally occur on fridays beginning about a month before the start of the semester. Therefore, you should probably check the course again on friday night or saturday morning; if someone has been purged, register quickly for this new spot. Then, be sure to pay your tuition so YOU don't get purged!
  • You can also visit the class at it's first meeting. Let the instructor know you would like to enroll in the course if there are any no shows. Leave your contact information with him, and then leave. (Regulations prohibit us from letting you attend the class if you are not registered.) If the no-show misses the rest of the classes that week, the instructor may be willing to drop him and let you into the class. Although this doesn't happen much, it does happen.
  • You can also request a new section of the class. (See the previous question.)

Do you offer any online courses?

Not currently. We believe Electronics is a "hands on" discipline, that requires actual experience with real electronic equipment. This is, after all, how it is done in industry. Other disciplines that are also inherently "hands on" include things like automotive technology, dentistry, and medicine.
